Patty Azzarello Speaker Biography

My work here is about business leadership, strategy execution, executive career advancement, and building the kind of authentic success that does not require you to sacrifice your soul and your life, or kill your team to get there.

I’m the author of two books:
Rise: 3 Practical Steps for Advancing Your Career, Standing Out as a Leader AND Liking your Life (Random House),
and MOVE: How Decisive Leaders Execute Strategy Despite Obstacles, Setbacks and Stalls (Wiley).

I work at the intersection of business success and humanity.

Business can be hard on one's humanity... There are impossible demands, shrinking resources, nasty politics, arrogant people in power, shifting priorities, slow decisions, strategic stalls...It can wear you down.

Effective leadership is built upon dealing with these realities, and understanding what will truly motivate and engage people to do the work that the business needs done anyway.

My work enables leaders to help people stay motivated…to do new and challenging things…over a period of time…in an aligned and decisive way -- so your strategy doesn't mysteriously stall after the exciting kickoff, or fail to ever even get beyond the talking.

Here at Azzarello Group you’ll find lots of critical insights for your business, as well as specific and practical ideas and tools to implement in your own situation to go faster, reduce risk, and lower stress.

But the theme that underlies it all is good leadership that is based on authenticity and humanity.

And I’m also here to give you all the career advancement secrets that I learned during more than 20 years of building my own career up from entry-level engineer, through mid-level and general management positions, ultimately to becoming a CEO...

FOR BUSINESS LEADERSHIP

MOVE: LEADING BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION
Companies invest huge amounts of time, effort, and money to define a new business strategy. But so often, after the exciting kickoff, the new strategy fails to take hold. Executives are left asking, “What happened? Where is the urgency? Where is the accountability? Where is the action?

Patty will reveal how a single shift in leadership behavior can get your whole organization truly aligned and motivated to stick with your strategy, avoid distractions, overcome obstacles and risks, and keep momentum when it gets hard. In this insightful and pragmatic talk based on her bestselling book MOVE, Patty shares the missing element to get your organization executing your strategy instead of just talking about it. Learn how to implement strategic transformation in your business. Leaders will leave inspired AND knowing what to do.

FOR PERSONAL LEADERSHIP AND CAREER

YOU DRIVE: CREATING MORE SUCCESS AND SATISFACTION IN YOUR CAREER
Learn what makes the key difference between a thriving career and a grueling job. In this talk, Patty shows audiences how to take control of their own careers, and how to gain the recognition and support necessary to enjoy growing success and satisfaction at work. She shares personal, inspiring, and highly practical stories about how she developed the persistence to overcome the many career risks and obstacles we all face -- to create genuine breakthroughs. Patty will also show you how to reclaim your authentic self at work, build your confidence, and how to make work choices that add more value to your company and thus to your own career -- without sacrificing your soul in the process.

FOR WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP GROUPS

"BACKWARDS AND IN HIGH HEELS"
Patty is regularly called upon to do keynotes and workshops for women’s leadership networks and events. Women are inspired by Patty’s own personal business and career success, but also with her openness and generosity in sharing the practical way forward with others. In this context, Patty addresses all the hard business and career challenges every leader needs to deal with -- but with the weird stories, extra challenges, and social and political roadblocks of doing it while female. Her personal, yet very practical stories highlight the value of the extra persistence, guts, and patience that are required to succeed, and she leaves other women inspired and motivated that they can do it too. As Ginger Rogers, the female half of the famous movie dancing duo said of her partner Fred Astair, “I did everything he did, but backwards and in high heels.”
