Tim Hague Speaker Biography

Tim Hague is an internationally known speaker, bestselling author, and Parkinson’s Advocate. Born in Texas Tim was adopted and raised in Kansas by parents who eventually adopted six biracial children in addition to having three children of their own. Tim grew up knowing what it was like to have little and how it felt to never quite fit in. Born in 1964 he was born a half breed in a very black and white world.

At the age of 24, Tim and his young wife Sheryl moved to Winnipeg, Canada, setting out on what proved to be a truly amazing journey. Tim earned his Registered Nurse designation in 1995 and had a magnificent career that spanned twenty plus years but was cut short by a diagnosis of Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 46. The diagnosis came as a shock to an otherwise healthy guy. After a period of initial struggle, Tim got back on his feet and ran his first triathlon.

As a follow up to his nursing career Tim went on to found the Parkinson’s charity, U-Turn Parkinson’s, with the goal of empowering people living with Parkinson’s in their pursuit of wellness. Parkinson’s is a leading neurological disorder second only to Alzheimer’s. Classically known for the tremors it produces Parkinson’s is a chronic and progressive disease that often debilitates those fighting it. Tim’s mission at U-TurnPD is to help those with the disease live well despite its devastating effects.

In the midst of adjusting to this new reality with Parkinson’s Tim made a decision that flipped his world. He and his son, Tim Jr., applied for and were selected to run the inaugural season of The Amazing Race Canada. Running a less than stellar race ‘The Tim’s’ produced an epic come from behind win that no one expected. Having been the only person with Parkinson’s to run The Amazing Race the win launched Tim into a leading role in the Parkinson’s community and into an incredible speaking career.

Tim is sought after across North America for his masterful storytelling that guides his listeners on a journey of failure to success. Tim likes to say he speaks everywhere, ‘from the schoolroom to the board room’ as well as for the Parkinson’s community around the world. Whether speaking to students or corporate leadership teams Tim’s mission is to provide the tools necessary for success when all seems lost. Tim has spoken to thousands of people every year about motivation, mindset, attitude, and success in the face of certain defeat.

Tim lives in Winnipeg, Canada with his wife Sheryl, their four children and two grandchildren.

You were a gift to us.

Westman Youth for Christ

“Tim Hague was the dinner speaker for one of our annual Dealer Group meetings. He had a wonderful message of hope and perseverance that was both heart-warming and inspiring. He is an engaging speaker and his presentation was warm and personal in a way that really allowed him to connect with his audience. We are very grateful to him for taking the time to share his experience and his wisdom with us.”

Chief Financial Officer, Murray Auto Group

“When Tim spoke to our members at our annual meeting, he captivated everyone in the room. With ease, he talked about his life – both the ordinary and the extraordinary. He wove his experiences working in health care with his personal health struggles. In a humorous and relatable manner, he shared with us his journey on Amazing Race Canada. But what’s truly amazing was the way he delivered his universal message of perseverance. He was interesting, engaging, very human and exceedingly likeable. He’s an amazing storyteller.”

President, Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union

“Tim is very engaging and his message of perseverance is on point – he has overcome many of life’s obstacles and continues to be positive to everyone around him. He spoke at a conference I organized recently and had two very nervous speakers following him in the line-up. He pulled them aside and gave them some tips to help calm them down and relax – such a professional! Not only is his story moving – he is an excellent speaker, very smart and funny too!”

Director of Education Services Louisiana Hospital Association

“Tim is simply one of the best speakers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to and working with. Not only does he tell a compelling story like none other, he drives home really important messages of perseverance and contentment (among others), which are as applicable and motivational to the business community as they are to the Parkinson’s community. Tim is really easy to work with, and we’ve hired him to speak at least four times in three different countries.”

Executive Director The Davis Phinney Foundation

“Reflective, funny, and personal,” is the way I would describe Tim and his masterful skill of capturing an audience and taking them on his journey. Stories come naturally and easily but, most importantly, weave meaning and relevance to his audience. Box up the platitude-driven speakers and get something real and relevant.”

Interim Executive, Business Educator, Advisor, Fixer

“As the co-chair of the Program Committee, the feedback tells us loud and clear that we made the right decision when we asked you to speak at the conference. I pulled some of the comments out of the survey and here are some that I would say mirror the Program Committee thoughts: I really enjoyed his presentation and was an excellent way to finish off the day / He was wonderful. He has a natural presence and I really connected with his honesty / So inspiring! No other words… just amazing / Dynamic speaker”
