Simon Sinek Speaker Biography

Simon Sinek is an unshakable optimist. He believes in a bright future and our ability to build it together.

Described as “a visionary thinker with a rare intellect,” Simon teaches leaders and organizations how to inspire people. With a bold goal to help build a world in which the vast majority of people wake up every single day feeling inspired, feeling safe at work, and feeling fulfilled at the end of the day, he is leading a movement to inspire people to do the things that inspire them.

Simon is the author of multiple best-selling books:

  • The global best seller Start With Why (over 1 million books sold in the U.S. alone)
  • The New York Times and Wall Street Journal best seller Leaders Eat Last
  • The New York Times and Wall Street Journal best seller Together is Better
  • Find Your Why: A Practical Guide for Discovering Purpose for You and Your Team
  • And his latest bestseller, The Infinite Game.

A trained ethnographer, Simon is fascinated by the people and organizations that make the greatest, lasting impact in their organizations and in the world. Over the years, he has discovered some

remarkable patterns about how they think, act, and communicate and the environments in which people operate at their natural best. He has devoted his life to sharing his thinking in order to help other leaders and organizations inspire action.

Simon may be best known for popularizing the concept of WHY in his first TED Talk in 2009. It rose to become one of the most watched TED talks of all time, with over 43 million views and subtitled in 48 languages. His interview on Millennials in the workplace broke the Internet in 2016, garnering over 200 million views in the first month. This led to Simon being YouTube’s fifth most searched term in 2017.

His unconventional and innovative views on business and leadership have attracted international attention. From American Airlines to Disney and MARS, from big business to entrepreneurs to police forces, Simon has been invited to meet with an array of leaders and organizations in nearly every industry. He has also had the honor of sharing his ideas at the United Nations, the United States Congress, and with the senior-most leaders of the United States Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, Army, and Coast Guard.

With a vision to change the way businesses think, act, and operate, Simon has partnered with Ernst & Young to develop products and services to help many companies transform their businesses. He is an adjunct staff member of the RAND Corporation, one of the most highly regarded think tanks in the world. He is also active in the arts and in the non-for-profit world (Simon prefers to call it the for-impact world).

Virtual Presentation:  Simon Sinek on the Opportunity of Leadership Right Now

Amid the Coronavirus Sinek has been in-demand for his shrewd insights into the leadership the world needs most now, and his engaging virtual presentations.  He was sought-out for a fascinating, live edition of NPR’s “How I Built This” on resilience in difficult times; engaged in a virtual conversation on how to lead through chaos; delivered a virtual talk on how to hone an infinite mindset; regularly delivers live online classes and more.

Virtual Presentation- The Infinite Game

How can we win a game that has no end? The simple answer is we can’t.

However, that’s exactly what so many companies are trying to do. The problem is, there is no such thing as “winning business.” In a game with no finish line and no agreed upon rules or metrics it is impossible to “be number one,” “be the best” or “beat our competition.” In this Infinite Game, there is only ahead and behind.

Leaders of organizations must understand the rules of the Infinite Game. Failure to do so dramatically increases the chance that they will set themselves on a path that eventually drains them of the will and resources to play at all. Eventually they will drop out of the game and no one will care. Their competition will just keep playing without them.

In this virtual version of his game-changing talk, Simon explores how understanding the rules of the Infinite Game is essential if any leader wants to stay ahead and outlast any competitor…forever.

Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Come Together and Others Don’t

Why do only a few people get to say “I love my job”? It seems unfair that finding fulfillment at work is like winning the lottery; that only a few lucky ones get to feel valued by their organizations, to feel like they belong.

Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work, feels trusted and valued during the day, then returns home feeling fulfilled at the end of each day.

This is not a crazy, idealized notion. Today, in many successful organizations, great leaders are creating environments in which people naturally work together to do remarkable things.

When the conditions in our organizations are right, we naturally trust each other and cooperate. But when leaders neglect the environment in which their people must work, politics, silos, cynicism and self-interest prevail — all things that make it even more difficult for us to work together. The best leaders know how to build those conditions and the best organizations are the ones in which the people work together to confront danger and seize opportunities.

Simon will explain what it takes to create an environment in which people work as they were designed—together. It is under these conditions we are at our natural best.

Thank you for an incredible keynote on “The Biology of Leadership.” Eye opening and thought provoking.

A quick note to say thank you for a powerful session yesterday. I feel like you gave me a language for something that I have been exploring and wrestling with for a long time as a marketer here – so thank you for the personal impact you have had on me. I also got incredible feedback from many participants about how inspired they are – even the video staff and bartender commented to me how powerful the session was! There seems to be a hunger for Why everywhere.

Thank you for taking the time to enlighten the Air Force’s newest senior leaders. Your candid perspective and clear insight will foster their success for many years and made this year’s program an outstanding success. The feedback we received from the group was unanimous—having you there was invaluable and memorable for each of them. Please accept my sincere appreciation for your contribution to this important forum.

Simon was one of the most impactful speakers at Birthing of Giants. After each of his 2 sessions, there was a bigger buzz than almost any other speaker over 7 years (and the speaker list is always incredible).

Birthing of Giants

Your presentations to our audience at the Sales Summit was extraordinarily well received. Your insights touched a nerve here and left an indelible mark on those who were present. The evaluations were off the chart. Congratulations on a job well done.

Sales Summit

As you took the stage, all were expecting the usual motivational message that historically closes all IOCs. Instead, your message was quite profound in its truth and clarity, presented in a manner that totally captivated our audience. The evaluations and feedback we received made it clear that many will continue to discuss and learn from what you shared long after we all returned home. Your message resonated with our conference delegates at a deeper level, which truly will effect significant change. It’s difficult to find the appropriate words to thank you for a presentation of such strength, clarity and value. Its applicability to all aspects of our lives, coupled with your stellar delivery, resulted in a compelling and unforgettable presentation that touched each of us deeply.

Simon’s presentation was fantastic. He had the attendees full attention, and during the Q&A there was no shortage of interaction. The attendees felt is was one of the best presentations they have been part of and were very appreciative that Simon would take time out of his schedule to present at an Apple event.

Sitting with a group of staff at headquarters, the room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop as people were intently listening, so pleased with Simon’s candid and authentic thought leadership. Simon patiently and caringly dealt with the diverse questions from our Vistage International community via webinar this morning. His wisdom and passion for innovation were easily apparent, as he adeptly glided into deep thought – regardless what was asked of him – and translated his responses into applications for us, for our business owners and CEOs, for our staffs and our Chairs who were eager to hear from the “Why” expert and author with the Golden Circle. He certainly stirred great interest in seeing him live in Dallas at the International Conference in January. I wrote four pages of notes, leaving with a quote from Simon that I believe we should incorporate in our theme, ThinkBIG. My big takeaway was this question: what can we do in our own community to inspire others to do what inspires them most? From that, according to Simon, springs innovation. Sitting next to our Chief Human Resources Officer, I noticed how moved he was when Simon spoke about caring more for people than the bottom line. He described the three ingredients for moving the organization in the direction toward our aspirations – our forever vision. I felt that Simon Sinek had connected with us, a great match for our values of trust, caring, challenge and growth.

Thank you, Simon, for an inspiring morning with Vistage. The hour was a great investment of time.
