Cindy Mullins Speaker Biography
In December 2023, Lucinda “Cindy” Mullins went from being a wife, mother, nurse, and caregiver to fighting for her own life.
A kidney stone led to a devastating infection and septic shock. After multiple organ failure and an unimaginable battle for survival, Cindy lost both of her legs and both of her arms.
She survived.
But surviving was only the beginning.
Cindy had to learn how to live again—how to navigate a world that suddenly looked completely different, how to accept help after spending her life caring for others, and how to find independence in a life she never imagined having.
Most importantly, she fought her way home to her husband and her two boys.
Today, Cindy shares her story to remind audiences that our circumstances may change our lives, but they don’t have to determine our future.
She speaks with honesty about fear, grief, family, resilience, vulnerability, gratitude, and the decision to keep moving forward—even when the next step feels impossible.
Her story is emotional, raw, inspiring, and ultimately one of hope.
HER STORY
Before her life-changing illness, Cindy was a nurse who spent her career taking care of others. She was a wife and a mom who was focused on her family and living an ordinary life.
Then everything changed.
A routine medical problem became a fight for survival. Cindy experienced sepsis and septic shock, multiple organ failure, and ultimately underwent amputations of both legs and both arms.
The woman who had spent her life helping others suddenly needed help with the most basic parts of everyday life.
But Cindy refused to let that be the end.
She endured months of recovery and rehabilitation, learning to navigate life as a quadruple amputee. Eventually, she received prosthetic legs and took her first steps again.
Those first steps represented much more than walking.
They represented every prayer.
Every setback.
Every tear.
Every painful therapy session.
Every moment she had to choose between giving up and trying one more time.
Cindy chose one more time.
And then she chose it again.
Today, she continues to build a life filled with family, purpose, laughter, challenges, and hope—and she shares her journey with others so they can find strength in their own.

Choosing Life: Finding Your Reason to Keep Going

Her husband.

From Caregiver to Patient
As a former nurse, Cindy spent years caring for other people.
Suddenly, she became the patient.
That transition taught her lessons about vulnerability, accepting help, patient advocacy, healthcare, and the importance of treating every patient as a whole person—not simply a diagnosis.
This presentation is especially meaningful for healthcare professionals, nursing students, caregivers, and medical organizations.
Finding Purpose After Trauma
A life-changing event can leave you wondering, “Who am I now?”
Cindy speaks about finding identity and purpose after losing so much of the life she once knew.
Her message is not about going back to the person you were before.
It’s about discovering who you can become next.
Gratitude for the Ordinary
Cindy’s experience completely changed her perspective on everyday life.
Walking into your house.
Going to a child’s ballgame.
Having dinner with your family.
Getting out of bed.
Being there for another birthday.
Things we often overlook became things worth fighting for.
Cindy encourages audiences to stop waiting for something extraordinary to happen before appreciating the extraordinary things already in their lives.
Motherhood, Family & Fighting for the People You Love

Her story reminds parents and families that time together is never guaranteed and that the seemingly ordinary moments often become our most treasured memories.
Overcoming the “Impossible”

WHY CINDY?
Cindy doesn’t speak from a textbook.
She speaks from experience.
She doesn’t tell audiences that adversity is easy.
She tells them that they are capable of more than they think they are.
Her story is deeply personal, but the message is universal.
Everyone faces moments they didn’t choose.
Everyone experiences loss, disappointment, fear, or uncertainty.
Everyone has moments when the next step feels impossible.
Cindy’s message is simple:
Take the next step.
You don’t have to know how you’re going to get through the next year.
You don’t even have to know how you’re going to get through the next month.
Sometimes you just have to make it through today.
And then tomorrow, you take another step.
