Alicia Mikolaycik Kurtz Speaker Biography
Dr. Alicia Mikolaycik Gonzalez, MD is the medical director of the Emergency Department at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, CA.
She has extensive leadership experience including serving on the Board of Directors and as President of the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA) from 2015-2018, chief resident at UCSF Fresno 2016-17, completing Vituity’s Administrative Fellowship 2017-2018, and serving on numerous state and national EM related committees and workgroups since then.
Alicia is also a Regional Director & the Clinical Training Lead for the CA Bridge Program (https://cabridge.org/), helping establish Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) programs & improving the care of patients with substance use disorders in hospitals across California.
She also serves as the Physician Champion for Opioid Stewardship for Dignity Health.
In 2019, Alicia created the Real Talk Podcast (http://realtalk.transistor.fm/) featuring stories that allow healthcare providers the opportunity to process the more human aspects of working in medicine. Alicia is passionate about shifting the culture of healthcare toward treating patients and providers with more compassion and bringing joy back to the bedside.
Outside of medicine, she loves travel adventures, trying new things, her amazingly supportive partner Marco, yoga, and all things Trader Joes.
