WASHINGTON NC, (WITN) World renowned singer Ronan Tynan, one of the Irish Tenors, performed Tuesday night at the Turnage Theater in Washington.
The concert was sponsored by the Beaufort County Concert Association.
Tynan is known for his versatile range and first gained international attention after winning a singing competition in the 1990's. He later became a member of the group the Irish Tenors.
Tynan has played for presidents, two Popes, numerous benefits following 9/11 and most recently for President Bush's funeral.
We talked with him prior to his performance and he said, "People in general really enjoy it, and that's what I want. I want to give for the next hour and a half to two hours that they're sitting down, they're going to have to allow themselves the freedom of memory lane."
Tynan is also a doctor and participated in the paralympics. He was born with a condition that caused his lower legs to be underdeveloped. His legs were amputated below the knees following a car accident when he was 20.
