Chet Garner Speaker Biography

Chet Garner is the creator, host, and executive producer of The Daytripper, a 12-time Emmy-award-winning Texas travel show airing on PBS stations across the country. Born in Comanche and raised in Port Neches, Texas, Chet’s love for storytelling began at a young age around the Boy Scout campfire and toting around his grandfather’s VHS video camera. Chet earned a degree in radio-television-film from the University of Texas at Austin and went on to graduate first in his class from Baylor Law School. However, after practicing law for three years, he decided to follow his passions and simultaneously inspire folks to appreciate the beauty, history, and food of the Lone Star State. What followed was a crash course in travel, filmmaking, marketing, and doing whatever it takes to start a successful TV show.

When not traveling, Chet is at home in Georgetown, Texas, with his wife and five children (ages 13, 11, 8, 6, and 2)—although he’s usually got them on the road, too.

TRIPPIN’ TEXAS: ONE DAY AT A TIME
Chet will share his deep love for Texas along with stories from the road that he’s gathered while making Twelve Seasons of his Emmy-award winning program. If you weren’t proud to be a Texan when you walked in, you will be when you leave.

A STORY TO TELL
Chet believes every destination has a story to tell. He will share his own story about creating the Emmy-award winning program “The Daytripper” and share stories that he’s discovered on the road. He’ll inspire and encourage the audience to look for their own story and discover what truly makes them unique, both individually and as a business or destination.

CALLED TO CREATE (spiritual discussion)
Chet believes that each of us has a unique gift given to us by the Lord and it’s our responsibility to step into that gift to live life to the fullest. Chet will share the story of how God called him away from being an attorney into life as a storyteller.

SOCIAL STORYTELLING
When social media seems like an endless stream of forgettable content. How do you stand out? How do you get more engagement? How do you keep up when you’re busy running your business instead of promoting it? Chet “The Daytripper” Garner will share some stories and lessons learned managing the social media for his Texas travel show and collaborating with Texas brands and makers.
