Dr. Yele Aluko Speaker Biography

Yele Aluko, MD, MBA, FACC, is a rare voice in American healthcare: a board-certified interventional cardiologist who moved from the catheterization lab to the boardroom—serving first as a health system board member, and later as a C-suite advisor and Big Four consultant. For 25 years he kept hearts beating; today he works to optimize the systems responsible for them.

The founder and principal at Aluko Advisors, Dr. Aluko advised Fortune 500 boards and health system executives as the Chief Medical Officer for EY Americas and founder of the EY Center for Health Equity. Navigating an industry in crisis, Dr. Aluko links better business performance to better human outcomes.
His perspective is grounded in the reality of the exam room. Having led heart and vascular services for a $10 billion integrated health system, he understands the friction between clinical care and administrative mandates. On stage, he interprets the complex languages of medicine, finance and policy, leading audiences on a path to discovery and growth.

Dr. Aluko delivers straight talk with diplomatic grace to physicians, health system leaders, and corporate board directors. He challenges audiences to expand the lens of health equity beyond narrow demographic framing and recognize that health vulnerability cuts across the entire American population.

The $1 Trillion Lever: Why Employers Will Decide Healthcare’s Future
Focus: Unlocking the Untapped Leverage of ESI

Abstract: The U.S. health system delivers exactly what it was built to produce: fragmented access, opaque pricing, and misaligned incentives. Yet one of the most powerful levers for change sits outside the traditional healthcare sector. Employer-Sponsored Insurance (ESI) represents over $1 trillion in annual spend, but is still managed as a cost center rather than a strategic asset. Drawing on his experience advising health systems, payers, and enterprise leaders, Dr. Aluko shows how large employers can shift from passive purchasers to active architects of value—redesigning payer relationships, enforcing accountability, and aligning incentives around measurable health outcomes. This is a candid look at how employers can force transformation across the healthcare ecosystem.

Key Takeaways:
• Employers must use their leverage to reposition ESI from HR function to enterprise strategy, influencing payer behavior at scale
• Payer transformation requires outcomes-based contracting, not incremental cost management
• Employers can align incentives across payers and providers by linking spend to measurable health and workforce outcomes
• Data transparency and governance are essential—employers must demand actionable insight, not black-box reporting

Fixing a System Broken By Design: The Architecture of Next-Gen Health

Focus: Fixing a system broken by design

Abstract: The current U.S. health system delivers exactly what it was built to produce: fragmented access with misaligned incentives. Drawing on his experience advising multihospital systems, Dr. Aluko shows leaders how to redesign system architecture–from downstream emergency department flow optimization to AI governance–around systems and people, not procedures. This is a powerful, candid look at transforming the operational blueprint of care.‍
Key Takeaways: Health systems must redesign operations, auditing data systems for bias and building inclusion into technology strategy.

The Empowered Patient: Converting Fear and Confusion into Health Literacy and Confidence
Focus: Turning uncertainty into an empowered patient and a satisfied experience.

Abstract: This talk examines the causation and cost of patient confusion experienced during the patient journey. Dr. Aluko demonstrates how consumer anxiety over cost, unclear diagnoses, and complex navigation creates consumer dissatisfaction and erodes trust. At its core, the solution lies in advancing consumer health literacy and empowerment—equipping patients with the clarity, confidence, and context needed to make informed decisions about their care. He empowers caregivers’ and advocacy leaders to adopt the “Trusted Interpreter” role, showing how simplicity, clarity, and health literacy build patient adherence, loyalty, and long-term personal health value.
‍‍
Key Takeaways: The ROI of clear communication; Translating complex data (comfortable wearables, accessible labs) for better shared decision-making; Empowering caregivers as patient advocates, and patients with health literacy.
