Michael Lombardi Speaker Biography

Former NFL general manager and three-time Super Bowl winner Michael Lombardi was most recently on the New England Patriots coaching staff for Bill Belichick after thirty years working in the front offices of the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Oakland Raiders, and the Cleveland Browns (where he was general manager).

Author of Gridiron Genuis, Lomardi reveals what he learned working with coaching legends Bill Walsh of the 49ers, Al Davis of the Raiders, and Bill Belichick of the Patriots, among others, during his three decades in football. Lombardi provides the blueprint that makes a successful organization click and win – and the mistakes unsuccessful organizations make that keep them on the losing side time and again.

Lombardi now writes for The Athletic, has his own podcast, The GM Shuffle, and is co-founder of The Daily Coach.

Everything Starts with Culture
Culture precedes positive results. It does not get tacked on as an afterthought, on the way to a championship. It starts from day one, with everyone adhering to a standard of performance.

The Secret to All Victory Lies in the Non-Obvious
Everyone can see what is essential and obvious. Still, those that can find the crucial non-obvious factors that determine victory will stay far ahead of their competition—being able to see what others don’t produce results.

Winning on the Gridiron and in the Boardroom
All sports, especially NFL football, are similar to any business organization, group or team. The foundations for building a championship team are the same for building a successful organization.
