Susan founded Money Savvy Generation in 1999 with her husband, Michael Beacham, after almost two decades in private banking and investment management complemented by considerable time teaching at the elementary level. The company develops innovative products to help parents and educators teach basic personal finance skills to school-aged children and is a former Board member of the National Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.
A sought-after speaker and writer, Susan is the creator of the award-winning Money Savvy Pigâ piggy bank which was named one of USA Today/Business Week's "Best Products" when it was introduced, and is the recipient of the Parents’ Choice Gold Award as well as the coveted NAPPA (National Parenting Publications Awards) Gold Award. It is also the centerpiece of the Money Savvy Kids® Basic Personal Finance Curriculum, a pioneering system which uses age-appropriate instructional materials to teach kids about the value of money. Currently, this program is taught in 27 states plus the District of Columbia. Official Money Guide for Teenagers, a comprehensive personal finance book written specifically for teens which received the EIFLE Children’s Book of the Year Award and Parents’ Choice Gold Award.
